Mzee Paul Frank Alusiola, a 79-year-old resident of Matende Village in Shirere Ward, Kakamega County, has endured a lifetime of hardship. A family man with eight children, his misfortunes began in 1985 when a violent group attacked him at his home, leaving him for dead. Unable to continue paying school fees, his children were forced to drop out.Though he recovered, Mzee Alusiola has suffered from intermittent side effects ever since. By 2015, these effects had severely impacted his legs and chest. Today, wearing shoes is unbearable, forcing him to walk barefoot due to the excruciating pain.Tragically, he has also lost three of his children and is now the sole guardian of three grandchildren. In 2021, Mama Ibado Charity stepped in to help, providing him with monthly food rations and access to health clinics to manage his worsening conditions.With no work and an aging, pain-ridden body, Mzee Alusiola is immensely grateful for the charity's intervention. The monthly food provisions and weekly health clinics have significantly eased his burdens in his old age. He deeply appreciates the kindness he receives, which makes each month more bearable.Mzee Alusiola is one of 300 seniors in Kakamega who receive care from Mama Ibado Charity. This initiative aims to restore dignity to elderly individuals, many of whom are left to languish in their twilight years. The charity not only provides food and health checks but also offers a crucial listening ear, creating a vital support system for the seniors in the community.
