A striking Russian heirloom with dusky red (aka "black") fruit, famous for its rich, distinctive smoky sweetness and salty, juiciness. Just the right balance of acidity and sweetne ss, is a standout in salads, sandwiches, and for fresh eating. This variety won our 2016 taste test trial of purple/black heirloom tomatoes where farmer Erica fell head over heels for this tomato. Originating in Russia, it was named in honor of African-American bass singer and social justice activist Paul Robeson, who was revered in Russia.
