PB-02 – Spanish Windmill | John Jenkins Designs A windmill can instantly establish the landscape of a diorama, and PB-02 – Spanish Windmill provides an impressive architectural centrepiece for a Peninsular War collection. Between 1808 and 1814, Spain and Portugal became the setting for a prolonged struggle involving French forces, British and Portuguese armies, Spanish regulars and guerrillas. Much of the campaigning took place through towns, villages and agricultural countryside rather than across empty battlefields. A structure such as PB-02 therefore offers enormous versatility. French troops can be shown passing on campaign, British infantry resting nearby, cavalry scouting through the area or Spanish guerrillas observing an approaching column. Buildings also provide height and depth that figures alone cannot achieve. Add walls, roads, vegetation and civilians around the windmill and it can become the centre of an entire Iberian village scene. Available from The Military Workshop – a wonderfully versatile John Jenkins Designs scenic piece capable of transforming a collection into a complete Peninsular War diorama.
