Information Sheet Safety Data Sheet Medigene PCMX sanitiser made using 4.8% Chloroxylenol, or para-chloro-meta-xylenol (PCMX), is an antiseptic and disinfectant agent used for skin disinfection and surgical instruments. The Chlorophenol is shown to be most effective against Gram-positive bacteria where it disrupts the cell wall due to its phenolic nature. Chloroxylenol (PCMX) is on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines. ANTISEPTIC DISINFECTANT KILLS GERMS PROTECTS Ingredients 4.8% Chloroxylenol. 10% Ethanol. Balance comprises non hazardous ingredients. Storage Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. Store away from foodstuffs. Store away from heat and flames. Product uses General antiseptic for minor scratches, cuts and insect bites. Wound cleaner and disinfectant. Invigorating and cleansing bath additive. General surface disinfectant. Freshen laundry. Directions of use Antiseptic: Dilute 1:20 (50ml in 1 litre of water). Dab or wipe the affected area with plenty of PCMX until clean. Discard unused mixture. Disinfect surfaces: Dilute 1:20 (50ml in one litre of water). Wipe down surfaces such as desks, chairs, bench tops, basins, toilets and floors. No need to rinse. Discard unused mixture. Bath: Add 30ml of PCMX to your bath to feel extra clean and fresh. (Not for infants younger than 9 months). Laundry: Add 30ml to the rinse cycle to freshen linen, towels, nappies etc. Safety Instructions WARNING Read label & SDS before use. Combustible liquid. Causes serious eye irritation. Wear PPE gloves/clothing etc. Avoid release to the environment. For external use only. FIRST AID If on skin, wash with soap & water. Rinse well with clean water. If in eyes, rinse well with water. Remove any contact lenses. Continue rinsing for 5 minutes. If inhaled, move to fresh air & rest where you can breathe comfortably. If ingested, do not induce vomiting. Drink a glass of water.
