The New Yorker's compact, all-poplar shells leave a lot of breathing room in an ensemble, which tends to work well for live jazz, funk, and hip-hop. Even so, Jubal Store's drummers were impressed with the amount of low end the New Yorker is capable of putting out. With close mics and proper tuning, we're sure the New Yorker would hold its own in a modern indie or alternative mix. PDP was kind enough to include a bass drum riser in this shell pack, which, combined with a cutaway in the batter-side hoop, lets you use your favorite kick pedal with minimal difference in response.
