Organic Green Pea Microgreens Seeds Name: Pea Microgreen Seed Latin Name: Pisium sativum Description: Pea are one of the easiest, if not the easiest microgreen to grow. They taste like sweet pea, with a slight nutty flavour. There is a great crunch to them. They can be eaten with any meal, or even snacked upon on their own. Pea shoots last a very long time in the fridge after they are harvested. The name of this green prea variety is Balboa. It produces beautiful tendrils, that are much sought after by chefs. Seed Origin: Italy Grow Time: 10 - 12 Days Ideal Growing Temperature: 17 °C + Growing Medium: Fine Compost Seeding Rate: 180g to 220g per 10” x 20” Tray Germination Time: 2 - 3 Days Blackout Time: 5 - 6 Days Estimated time to Harvest: 10 - 12 Days How To Grow Pea Microgreens: Place a tray with holes inside a tray with no holes. Fill the tray with holes with ¾ inch of fine compost. Compact the compost. Spread the Pea microgreen seeds evenly over the compost, leaving a small bit of space between each seed. Press the seeds into the soil. Cover the seeds with a light layer of compost and compact again. Water the seeds and soil. Place a tray with no holes on top of the seeds and soil. Add roughly 4kg of weight into the tray, so the seeds are kept pressed into the soil. After 3 - 4 days the Pea microgreens will be pushing the weighted tray into the air. Remove the weighted tray.Water the microgreens from the top. Turn the weighted tray upside down and replace it on top of the sprouting peas so it acts as a dome. On day 7 - 8, remove the dome and place them under a grow light, onto a window sill, or into light in a greenhouse. When in light, water each day by pouring water into the bottom,until day 10 - 12. Between day 10 - 12, harvest all of the microgreens using a sharp knife or scissors. Store the harvested microgreens in the refrigerator.
