Adobe 2x8 — Dusty Terracotta Cement Tile A dusty, sun-worn terracotta, warmer than clay but softer than brick. Cast in cement, it takes on the flat, sandy finish of desert plaster rather than the glossy depth of glazed zellige — closer to adobe walls left to weather for a generation. Adobe sits between our Blush and Redwood glazes: less pink than the former, less saturated than the latter, holding a quiet middle ground. Each tile is hand-pressed from pigmented cement by artisans in Fez, following a hydraulic process that has shaped North African floors for well over a century — the pigment set not by fire, but by time and pressure. Sold as individual tiles, the 2x8 format lends itself to running bond, herringbone, or basketweave — geometries that let the tile's quiet texture do the talking. Nine tiles make up one square foot. It reads beautifully underfoot in an entry or courtyard-style space, and just as well climbing a wall where warmth is wanted without color that competes. Cement tile carries the fingerprints of its making — soft variation in tone and a slightly porous, hand-finished surface that no machine could replicate. We recommend sealing every tile before installation and again after grouting — a small ritual that protects the pigment for decades to come.
