Hand-carved and painted at a small workshop in a village outside Chiang Mai, where this carving tradition has been passed down through generations of craftspeople. The stool is made from solid Raintree, a fast-growing tropical hardwood with a warm grain, finished with natural wax. A peacock displays his plumage across the seat, carved in relief and picked out with hand-painted detail. Sturdy enough to sit on, low enough to use as a side table or plant stand. Each piece is individually carved and painted, so colours and detail will vary slightly from stool to stool. Part of the character of handmade work. Care: clean with a dry cloth, or a natural beeswax polish if you want to bring up the shine. Avoid silicone-based aerosol polishes as they damage the wax finish.
