North Florida Growing Note Bartlett is not considered a dependable pear for North Florida, the Florida Panhandle, or the humid Southeast. It generally performs best in cooler, drier pear-growing regions and can experience problems with inadequate winter chilling and fire blight in Southern climates. University of Georgia Extension advises that Bartlett is not adapted to the Southeast.
