There is a subtle surrealism to this still life that makes it an eye catching artwork. The contrast between the figurative style pears, the flat, graphic style of the table cloth a nd the soft, dream-like background is what gives this a not-quite-real feel. Painted predominantly in greens and yellows, the artwork has a boldness that is balanced carefully by the hazy, muted colours in the background. I had a lot of fun creating this piece and I particularly enjoyed painting the leaves and tablecloth.
