Pecan Pecans are a nut tree native to Texas, Arkansas, and surrounding states. They have been widely propagated for nut production nationwide, as they are terrific for human consumption. These trees can be found in neighborhoods, orchards, and old homeplaces across the country. Pecans do well in a wide range of soil types and conditions making them easy to grow and very hardy. Being a native tree, they require little to no maintenance and have few pests. Pecans aren't only good for human consumption though, wildlife love them too! Deer, turkey, raccoons, opossums, and more will flock to pecan trees when their nuts drop from Sept-Nov.
