Peter Coombe Mandolin, made in Australia 2012, natural satin. Peter Coombe has been making mandolins from his workshop in Bega, NSW, since the mid 90s. He makes guitars too these days, but the mandolin is his first love and original muse. A new example will set you back around A$5k, with a wait of several months if you're lucky. This one is lovely A-style teardrop shape, made with some top notch sitka spruce and Indian rosewood. The tone is dry, crisp and balanced, with outstanding clarity and warmth that you will never get from a mass produced model.
