Pelia (Monosolenium tenerum) is a freshwater liverwort rather than a true moss, producing flat, lobed thalli with a fresh mid-green colour and a slightly glossy surface. Its growth form and texture are quite different from conventional aquarium mosses — more compact and visually structured — and it provides an unusual and distinctive planted accent when established on rock or wood surfaces or used to cover foreground areas of the substrate.Pelia is easy and adaptable. It grows in low to medium light without CO2 injection and tolerates a broad range of water parameters. It attaches to hard surfaces via small holdfast structures and spreads gradually over time. Being denser and heavier than most aquarium mosses it is less likely to be disrupted by water flow, making it a practical choice where lighter mosses would shift.Supplied as a loose portion — attach to wood or rock using fine thread, aquarium-safe glue, or simply weight down with a small stone and allow it to anchor naturally over several weeks. Suited to aquariums of 20 litres and above and popular in shrimp tanks for its unusual texture and strong attachment behaviour.
