Visitors to Salem's Peabody Essex Museum are intrigued by Moshe Safdie's architecture. Exhibits, public spaces, an auditorium and renovations honor the museum's heritage and Salem' s hundreds of years of history. Inside, the spine's curved gable roof—half glass, half opaque—leads visitors on an engaging journey. Its seemingly free-form shape is actually a toroid segment. These ties were designed using sketches of Safdie's galleries. Though they appear to use simple shapes the design evokes the architectural flavor of Salem and its buildings and houses. --- 100% Silk.
