This was one of my first intricate wire-wrap pieces. I had the idea of Iron Man's heart piece the part that slides into place and gives him energy and I wanted to create something that felt like that: substantial, intricate, and almost like an object with its own source of energy. The piece grew around a collection of crystals, including Amethyst, Danburite, Selenite, Pink Tourmaline, and Black Tourmaline. Rather than trying to make the stones disappear into the setting, I wanted the wirework to become part of the piece itself and hold everything together as one structure. It ended up being a big piece roughly a quarter pound and that physical presence is part of what makes it what it is. This is from my original body of work, from a period when I was pushing myself into more intricate wire construction and figuring out where I could take the medium. Handcrafted in Argentium silver. Weight: approximately 105 grams..
