Penderecki Conducts PendereckiKrzysztof Penderecki with the Sinfonietta Cracovia from the Alte Oper FrankfurtKrzysztof Penderecki is Poland's leading contemporary composer and he stands at the forefront of modern music. In this program, recorded at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, one of Europe's most prestigious concert venues, he conducts the Sinfonietta Cracovia in performances of four of his own works. Each piece is introduced by the composer. Penderecki is closely associated with the Sinfonietta Cracovia, which was formed by graduates of the Cracow Academy of Music in 1991. Impressed by the excellent standard of their work, he helped to establish them as a permanent orchestra, supported by the city of Cracow.
