Pendulums are often used as tools for spiritual healing and inner growth. A pendulum is an object attached at the end of a string or metal chain. When suspended from a stationary position, the pendulum will swing back and forth or in a circular motion. How to Use a Pendulum With your elbow placed on a steady surface, hold the chain between your thumb and index finger. Take a calming breath, and ask the pendulum to show you what a "yes" movement is. It may swing back and forth or go in a circle. Then, still the pendulum. Ask to the crystal to show you a "no" movement. Still the pendulum again. Ask the crystal to show you a "maybe/not known/not free to know" movement. Ask simple questions you know the answer to, as a way to test that you are receiving correct answers.
