Penstemon 'Windsor Red' is a bold and reliable garden perennial, celebrated for its elegant upright stems topped with deep crimson-red tubular flowers. These eye-catching blooms appear over many weeks, creating a vibrant display that brings a cottage-garden feel to any outdoor space. With its semi-evergreen foliage and upright form, this penstemon adds both colour and structure to borders and beds. This hardy perennial performs best in moist but well-drained soil with good sun exposure, though it can tolerate partial shade. Flowering from June through to October, it offers a long season of interest and is especially loved by bees and butterflies. Regular deadheading will keep the flowers coming, and a layer of mulch in colder months helps protect the roots for winter resilience. Ideal for adding height to perennial planting schemes, Penstemon 'Windsor Red' pairs beautifully with ornamental grasses and late-summer bloomers. It’s a great choice for pollinator-friendly gardens and thrives equally well in traditional borders or large containers. Its tall flowering spires also make excellent cut flowers, bringing a splash of colour indoors.
