The Pentax MX is one of the smallest fully mechanical 35mm SLRs ever made, a professional-grade body that fits in a jacket pocket without sacrificing anything. It is fully mechanic al at every speed, no battery required to fire the shutter, with the battery powering only the meter. That meter is an advanced system for its day: five SPD cells driving an over/under LED readout in the finder. Add mirror lock-up, depth-of-field preview, a self-timer, and interchangeable focusing screens, and you have Pentax's compact flagship rather than a stripped-down body. The shutter is a horizontal cloth focal-plane type, and the viewfinder is bright with nearly 100% coverage.
