A few years ago I did some experimenting with the traditional Kimono shape. I started with the standard T-shape pattern of the body and sleeve in one, then elaborated on what it did from the bust down to the hem. This particular version has a seam around the waist that starts high in the front and drops as it travels around the sides to the lowest point in the center back. Then I flared the circular skirt into a peplum shape that drapes softly to above knee length. Finished off with a standard 2" wide kimono collar. It's comfortable and fun to wear, as an outfit or thrown on over jeans. Shown here in lightweight "Mauve", a soft linen woven with purple thread in one direction and cantaloupe in the other, making a shimmery pinkish effect.
