When Neil Peart and Hugh Syme discussed the album title Permanent Waves—a reaction to the “New Wave” of music in the late 1970s—they dreamed up a playful concept. It’s an elaborate visual pun in which a woman from the 1950s blithely strolls away from a tidal wave. “I suggested a woman who looked like actress Donna Reed, with a Toni home permanent hairstyle from that era,” says Hugh. Artist Proof Edition hand-signed by Artist Hugh Syme and accompanied with an official Certificate of Authenticity.
