Persian Ruby Daylily ‘Persian Ruby’ daylily is a heart-stopper in the garden. Huge 7 3/4″ blooms are a deep, dark ruby-red with a massive golden throat and are held high on scapes that reach around 30″ in our East Tennessee garden. A true gem. An early to mid season bloomer, we typically see the first of these stunning blooms in early June. If you are to our north, you’ll likely see it a couple of weeks later. If you live to our south, you’ll get to see it a few weeks before we do. If you live in a warmer planting zone (9 or higher) don’t be put off by the fact that this is a dormant variety. Persian Ruby is one of a small number of dormant daylilies that grow successfully in zone 3-10 gardens. Persian Ruby is absolutely stunning when planted with bright gold or lavender daylilies.
