Key Specs: New cast-aluminum housing keeps weight down Mechanical advance curve tuned for real-world driving Built-in Ignitor module doubles spark energy – more power, better mileage, longer plug life Cobalt magnets and Hall Effect sensor lock in exact timing High-strength cap with brass contacts What You Get: A no-nonsense distributor that blends the reliable centrifugal advance of a 009 with the hotter spark of an 010/050 – at a price that won’t sting. Vacuum-advance units include a custom curve that works with most street setups. Ignitor electronics run on 12 V or 6 V negative-ground systems. Works on Type 4 Engines Too! We run these on carbureted Type 4 builds every day. Just re-clock the base gear 180° or rotate the crank-driven distributor drive in the case for perfect alignment—no other changes needed. (instructions below) Extras Balanced rotor, low-resistance brass tip 30-month electronics coverage / 1-year mechanical Not CARB-approved – for off-road and pre-emissions vehicles only Re-Clocking the Distributor for Type 4 Engines – Step by Step Pull the distributor – rotate engine to TDC #1 (mark on pulley), note rotor position, then lift unit straight out. Two options to re-clock 180°: Option A (easier): Pop the drive gear off the distributor shaft (held by a roll pin), rotate gear 180°, re-install pin. Option B (in-case): Leave distributor gear alone; instead, pull the crank-driven distributor drive from the case, flip it 180°, and reinstall. Re-insert distributor – rotor will now point ~180° opposite original spot; align housing so #1 plug wire sits at your preferred tower. Fine-tune timing with a light – done. Fires exactly like a factory Type 4 unit. Takes 10 minutes with basic tools; no machining, no adapters.
