Yulisa Carhuallocllo La Miel S240213, Washed, SHB La Miel was founded by a couple of coffee farmers in love—Yulisa Ester Carhuallocllo and her husband, Jeremias Chinguel Huancas—who wanted to improve the quality of the coffee from their farm. They improved their planting techniques and processing, selecting traditional varieties (Bourbon and Caturra) as well as exotics (Gesha) to plant on the farm. The farm is named after the bees they keep—which produces honey and helps to pollinate the coffee blossoms as well as the vituca, guava and orange trees growing there. With the premiums she receives, Yulisa hopes to grow her business both by expanding her farm to increase her volume of production as well as starting a roasted brand to sell roasted coffee locally. 🌿 Origins and History• Ethiopian Roots: Gesha (sometimes spelled Geisha) originates from the Gesha region in southwestern Ethiopia, where it grew wild for centuries.• Rediscovery in Panama: Though collected in the 1930s for research, Gesha gained global fame in 2004 when the Peterson family in Panama entered it into a coffee competition.
