Welcome to "We Love 2 Stitch" and another addition to the popular Build-A-Block series, the Orange Peel (aka Petal) Block. Whether you refer to the block as an orange peel or a petal, this block is truly a classical favorite. The look of the finished project is determined by the arrangement of the blocks (think x's and o") and when combined with other types of blocks, like circle blocks, the project looks completely different. The petal block is stunning when used as a border and a great way to frame a quilt or wall hanging. To provide even more options, this collection also includes in-the-hoop borders. We love having the ability to finish a project in-the-hoop, including the borders. There are five projects covered in the step-by-step instructions, two table runners, a quilt, a placemat or a pillow project, and a wall hanging. The wonderful thing about the Build-A-Block series is that there are so many options for layouts and for projects. Combine Build-A-Blocks blocks, like we did for the Opposites Attract Quilt for even more options. THE PETAL BUILD-A-BLOCK: Creating a Petal Build-A-Block is straight forward with only four simple steps: STEP ONE: Select a Finished Block Size, choosing from six coordinating sizes; STEP TWO: Select a Background Quilting Motif from the four Quilting Motif options; STEP THREE: Select a Petal Applique Quilting Motif from the four Quilting Motif options; STEP FOUR: Select a Petal Decorative Stitch from the five options; Petal Block Sizes: 3.5", 4", 4.5", 7", 8" and 9". Border Block Sizes: Varies by hoop size. Minimum Hoop Size: The 5" x 7" hoop may only use the 3.5" block and 4" block sizes. To fully utilize all the designs in the Build-a-Block, an 8" x 12" hoop or larger is needed. Finished Project Sizes: The finished size for the Hugs and Kisses Wall hanging: 29” square using the 4" block; The finished size for the Pretty Perfect Table runner: 19" x 47" using the 7" block; The finished size for the Opposites Attract - Double the Fun Quilt or Wall hanging using the 4.5" block: Quilt finished size is 59” x 68”; Wall hanging finished size is 41” x 41”; Note: The sample includes both Petal and Circle Build-A-Blocks for the quilt center; The finished size for the Here Fishy, Fishy Table runner and Placemats: Placemats finished size is 18" x 13.5, using the 4.5" block; Table runner finished sizes, using the 3.5" block: 21” x 45 ½” without Optional Border, or 26” x 50½” with Optional Border.
