The Peter Zumthor Candlestick is a minimalist, tactile object crafted from turned cast aluminium, featuring a gently flared collar and a raw, industrial aesthetic. Designed to resemble a mechanical part, it embodies a "less is more" philosophy and acts as a functional sculpture, often suited to rustic or ascetic interiors. The design emphasizes minimalist, essential forms, focusing on the material's character rather than ornamentation. This candlestick reflects the wider design philosophy of Zumthor, which highlights the sensory experience, material integrity, and the atmosphere of a space. Peter Zumthor was born in Basel in 1943. He is one of the most interesting international architects of the 21st century. Having studied at the Schule fuer Gestaltung in Basel and at the Pratt Institute in New York, he then renovated various protected buildings in the canton of Graubünden, before opening his own studio in 1979. His main works include the Sogn Benedetg Chapel in Somvitg (1988), the thermal baths in Vals (1996), the Kunsthaus in Bregenz (1997) and the Swiss Pavilion at the Expo 2000 in Hanover.
