Then the shoulders are worked and shaped using decreases. The shoulders are joined to form the front, and then the front and back are joined to form the body. The body is worked in the round and then split into front and back to form the side splits. The slits start approximately at the iliac crest (top of the hip). The sleeves are shaped using short rows, before they are worked in the round in rib. The turtle neck collar is worked at the end in rib. The pattern also contains instructions for a shorter version without the slits (the yardage on the first page of the pattern is for the longer version with slits).While knitting the sweater, it will have a tendency to contract and fold in on itself. This will even out after wash and blocking.
