Crafted specifically for classic mountaineering, the Petzl Summit Ice Axe strikes the ideal balance between cost and capability. Its lightweight design allows for strong anchoring with both the head and spike, while its curvature provides ample room for conquering steep ice. This versatile tool can be utilised in piolet-canne or piolet-rampe mode, as well as in piolet-traction mode for tackling short, steep sections with precision. Features This lightweight ice axe has sufficient weight in the head to provide excellent anchoring power. Shaft ergonomics: The upper section of the shaft is curved, offering ample clearance during climbing. The lower section of the shaft is straighter, ensuring efficient penetration into snow. Pick and adze made from hot-forged steel, guaranteeing reliable anchoring: The pick is thin (3 mm) and has a toothed tip, ensuring solid anchoring in both hard snow and ice. The middle section of the pick is thicker, which enhances anchoring in softer snow. The teeth on the upper part of the pick strengthen the ice axe’s hold when used in piolet-rampe mode. A durable stainless steel spike offers excellent penetration in hard snow and when using the piolet-canne technique. High strength and practical features: The durable steel adze provides a comfortable support surface, with its edge design facilitating the efficient carving of stairs. The adze’s tilt ensures the axe is correctly positioned when used in piolet-canne mode. Both the head and spike are equipped with holes for attaching a carabiner or sling. The high-quality 7075 aluminium shaft (commonly used in aeronautics) has an anodised finish, offering superior protection. The handle is carved into the adze to improve grip. The ice axe is compatible with the LINKIN leash. Protective caps are included for the axe’s pick and spike.
