Water when roots appear silvery – roughly every 10–14 days, depending on temperature and season. Soak the nursery pot in tepid water for around 10 minutes, then allow to drain fully. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a specialist orchid fertiliser, and gently wipe leaves to keep them free from dust. Once the flowers fade, cut the stem just above the second node (joint) below the spent blooms to encourage a new flowering spike. If your orchid is healthy but not producing flowers, a slight drop in temperature (around 5°C for four weeks) can stimulate new growth.
