A sculptural table lamp in chrome over nickel with a cylindrical base and spherical centre, designed by Philippe Barbier. This is one of the largest versions of the Barbier lamp, making it a particularly striking example of his work. The lamp is paired with a conical shade handmade in Sweden using an off-white hemp linen from Astrid Textiles, Stockholm. The base has been updated with new electrics, twisted fabric cord, brass fittings for an E27 bulb, and a new EU plug and switch. Barbier worked in Paris during the 1960s and 1970s under the name Maison Barbier, creating lighting for French film sets. He was known for his polished chrome over nickel pieces in sculptural forms.
