The practice of creating Santos began in Spain. Religious images were commonly decorated in ornate religious clothing. Today Santos remain a living tradition of religious iconograp hy and folk art in Mexico, Philippines, Vietnam and other countries.Saint Anthony is especially invoked and venerated all over the world as the patron saint for the recovery of lost items.
