Philodendron rugosum, sometimes referred to as the 'Sow Ear Philodendron', is a rare and captivating tropical plant native to the lush rainforests of Colombia. Known for its deeply textured, velvety leaves with pronounced ridges and a rich dark green hue, this species adds a unique sculptural element to any indoor plant collection. As a houseplant, it thrives in bright, indirect light but should be shielded from direct sunlight to prevent leaf damage. It prefers well-draining, aerated soil that retains moisture without becoming waterlogged. Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings to avoid root rot. High humidity and temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C) are ideal for its growth. Feeding with a balanced, diluted fertilizer during the active growing season supports healthy foliage development. Philodendron rugosum’s distinctive texture and elegant form make it a prized choice for enthusiasts seeking a sophisticated and low-maintenance tropical houseplant. Show more
