Up to 90-Minute Data Fire Protection | Water Resistant | Key, Electronic or Fingerprint Locking The Phoenix Datacare DS2000 Series is a specialist fire-resistant data safe designed to protect computer backup tapes and digital media from the potentially devastating effects of fire, heat, water and impact. Unlike conventional fire safes designed primarily to protect paper documents, the Datacare has been specifically tested for the considerably more demanding requirements of computer data media, including backup tapes, CDs, DVDs and memory sticks. Tested to the prestigious Swedish NT Fire 017 data protection standard, the Datacare provides either 60 or 90 minutes of certified data-media fire protection, depending on the model selected. Twin water-resistant seals, substantial fire-resistant construction and a 9.1-metre impact test provide additional protection for irreplaceable business and personal data. Available in two sizes with a choice of Key, Electronic or Fingerprint locking. Certified Fire Protection for Data Media Digital media is considerably more vulnerable to heat than conventional paper documents, which means a standard document fire safe may not provide suitable protection for computer backup media. The Phoenix Datacare has therefore been specifically tested to the Swedish NT Fire 017 data-media standard. DS2001 – NT Fire 017-60dis Provides 60 minutes of fire protection for computer backup tapes and digital media. DS2002 – NT Fire 017-90dis Provides an increased 90 minutes of fire protection for computer backup tapes and digital media. This makes the Datacare particularly suitable for protecting valuable or irreplaceable digital information where maintaining off-line physical backups forms part of a wider data-protection or business-continuity strategy. Protection for Digital & Backup Media The Datacare is designed for the secure storage of heat-sensitive media including: Computer backup tapes LTO tapes DAT tapes DLT tapes CDs and DVDs Memory sticks Other appropriate digital backup media The specially protected internal compartment helps maintain the controlled environment required to protect sensitive media during a fire. Water-Resistant Inner Compartment Fire is not the only potential threat to valuable backup media. The Datacare incorporates twin water-resistant seals, creating an airtight, water-resistant inner compartment around the stored media. This provides additional protection against water associated with fire-fighting operations and other sources of water exposure. 9.1-Metre Fire & Impact Drop Test The Datacare has also been subjected to a demanding 9.1-metre fire and impact drop test. This simulates the severe physical impact that could occur if a safe were to fall through the burning floors of a building during a major fire. The combination of certified fire resistance, water-resistant seals and impact testing makes the Datacare a particularly comprehensive solution for protecting important physical data backups. Key, Electronic or Fingerprint Locking Both sizes are available with a choice of three locking systems. Key Lock – K Fitted with a high-quality key lock and supplied with two keys. Electronic Lock – E Fitted with an advanced high-security electronic lock with a clear LED display. Fingerprint Lock – F Fingerprint models feature an advanced touchscreen keypad and biometric fingerprint lock. Two Levels of Data Protection The Datacare is available in two sizes, allowing the level of fire protection and storage capacity to be matched to the quantity of media being protected. Substantial Fire-Resistant Construction The Datacare uses a double-walled steel body and door, filled with specialist fire-resistant barrier material and incorporating a protected internal door. This substantial construction creates the controlled inner environment necessary to protect heat-sensitive digital media during a fire. The DS2001 weighs approximately 43kg, while the larger DS2002 weighs approximately 93kg. £1,500 Cash / £15,000 Valuables Rating In addition to its specialist fire protection, Phoenix recommends the Datacare for an overnight risk of up to: £1,500 Cash or £15,000 Valuables However, the Datacare's principal purpose is fire and environmental protection for data media, rather than high-level burglary resistance. Customers primarily requiring protection for cash, jewellery or other high-value possessions should consider one of SafeFort's independently certified security-safe ranges instead. GDPR & Business Data Protection The Datacare is particularly suitable for organisations that maintain physical backups of important or confidential electronic information. Protecting backup media against fire, water and physical damage can form part of a wider approach to data resilience, disaster recovery and business continuity. Phoenix also identifies the Datacare as suitable for helping organisations keep important company records securely protected as part of their GDPR responsibilities. White RAL 9003 Finish The Datacare is finished in a high-quality, scratch-resistant White RAL 9003 paint. Its clean professional appearance makes it suitable for offices, server rooms, records departments and other commercial environments as well as residential use. SafeFort Recommendation The Phoenix Datacare DS2000 is a specialist safe that we recommend where the primary requirement is protecting digital backup media against fire. This distinction is important. Computer backup tapes and other digital media can be damaged at temperatures significantly below those that would destroy paper, so a conventional document fire safe should not automatically be assumed to provide appropriate protection for sensitive data media. The DS2001 provides 60 minutes of NT Fire 017 data protection in a compact 7-litre format, making it ideal where only a relatively small quantity of critical backup media needs to be protected. For organisations with larger backup requirements, the DS2002 increases capacity to 18 litres and provides 90 minutes of data-media fire protection, together with automatic slam-shut locking. Twin water-resistant seals and the 9.1-metre fire and impact test provide valuable additional protection in the event of a serious building fire. For businesses maintaining physical off-line backups as part of their disaster-recovery strategy, the Datacare provides a much more appropriate solution than a conventional paper fire safe.
