This is not a book about fame, hit singles or sold-out shows. This is a book about everything in between I played in the bands Viagra Boys (2015–2020) and Les Big Byrd (2011–2020). Living life on the road with a camera in my bag and no particular plan, just plenty of time and nothing else to do other than document the offstage reality. Over time, these snapshots from tour buses, hotel rooms, ferries and countless backstage parties turned into something more. A visual diary of downtime. Of waiting. Of laughter, hangovers and sound checks. Of the strange beauty that lives in the ordinary. Shot on a secondhand camera from 1979 with black and white film, the photographs carry the raw grain of the analogue, unpolished and honest. Much like the music we made. Much like the friendships we built. This book is for those curious about what happens after the show ends, when the crowd is gone and the amplifiers cool down. It’s a love letter to the offstage, in between shows.
