Polyisobutene (polyisobutylene) is a class of organic polymers prepared by polymerization of isobutene. Polybutenes are clear, water-light, viscous polymerization products of isobu tene and n-butene. They are highly resistant to ageing, stable to oxidation and electrically non-conductive. In formulations, they improve shear stability, slip properties and the viscosity index. Due to these properties, polybutenes are used in many different products. These include lubricants and greases, adhesives and sealants, casting compounds, plastic films for food contact and cosmetic products. Show more
