Got food scraps? We'll pick them up! Pickled Compost is piloting a weekly food scrap collection service for households and businesses in Greytown. We'll provide you with a bucket and you provide the food scraps! The best part is, we do the composting for you using our 'pickling' bokashi method, which means you can divert ALL your food scraps — including meat, bones, seafood and dairy — from your rubbish, making life easy and guilt-free. Sign up before Monday 28 September and get your first 2 weeks FREE! 🎉 📅 First collection: Tuesday 6 October 2026💳 First payment: Monday 19 October 2026📍 Greytown🌱 Limited pilot places available 🪣 10 litre bucket $5/week 1x 10 litre bucket Ideal for smaller households (1–3 people) and small offices. 🪣 20 litre bucket $8.50/week 1x 20 litre bucket Ideal for larger households (4+ people), cafés and small commercial kitchens What can go in the bucket? Fill your bucketPlace your food scraps into your Pickled Compost bucket, provided one week before your collection service starts. 2. We pick it upWe collect your bucket every Tuesday and replace it with a clean one. 3. We do the picklingYour food scraps are fermented using our Bokashi system. 4. Back to the soilThe food scraps are processed on a local farm in the region and turned into living compost Why limited to Greytown? We’re currently operating at a small, local scale so we can build reliable collection routes and ensure all food scraps are properly processed into high-quality compost. Why get Pickled? Because food scraps don't belong in the rubbish. Your scraps contain valuable nutrients that can go back into our local soils instead of being buried in landfill. Don't have the time, space or inclination to compost? Let Pickled take it off your hands. We’ll collect your food scraps every week and take care of the rest — so you can feel good about where your scraps end up, without having to manage the composting yourself. Can I skip a week? Absolutely. If you're going away or don't need a collection, you can skip a week and resume your regular collection the following week. Just make sure you skip your collection before collection day, so our collectors don't make an unnecessary trip to your property or business. 📍 Will this be available outside of Greytown? Not quite yet! We’re currently only offering residential and business collection in Greytown, but we’re building towards a wider rollout across the Wairarapa. Want Pickled in your area?
