Working with a reduced vocabulary of line, colour and gesture, Pierre Célice constructs an abstract composition that balances expressive freedom with architectural clarity. Bold vertical accents interact with energetic linear marks, while contrasting areas of black, grey and deep magenta generate a dynamic sense of rhythm. The work reflects Célice's mature understanding of abstraction as an open visual language. Rather than suggesting a fixed narrative, the composition invites each viewer to establish their own associations, allowing the painting to remain in constant dialogue with its audience. Pierre Célice (1932–2019) abandoned early law studies for drawing and painting under the guidance of Henri Hayden. Working in the early 1970s in Peter Bramsen's Paris lithography studio, where he crossed paths with CoBrA artists Bram van Velde, Pierre Alechinsky, Asger Jorn and Karel Appel, Célice broke with figuration to develop his mature language of cut and layered coloured paper over gestural paint. His work entered the collections of the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. Details Medium: Acrylic on paper, framed Date: n.d.
