A modern Scottish craft “blond” ale from Pilot Beer in Edinburgh, brewed at their Leith brewery and sitting somewhere between a cloudy pale ale and a session IPA rather than a trad itional blonde lager. In the glass it pours a hazy pale gold, with a soft, slightly creamy appearance that already hints at the oat-heavy malt base. On the nose it’s bright and expressive: tropical fruit, mango, passionfruit and citrus zest, driven by New World hops (Mosaic and Galaxy). There’s a gentle bready sweetness underneath, but the hops are clearly the main event. Show more
