About the Pineapple Swordtail The Pineapple Swordtail, a color variation of the common Swordtail (Xiphophorus hellerii), is a freshwater fish known for its vibrant yellow-orange bo dy with darker orange patches on its back and dorsal fin, resembling a pineapple. Males have the distinctive "sword" extension on their lower tail fin, while females lack this feature. They are peaceful, livebearing fish, well-suited for community tanks. Because this species can get quite large in size (up to 4-5 inches in most captive specimens), it will need greater tank volumes compared to other livebearers. However, like most livebearers, Swordtails are fond of harder water parameters.
