Description From Uji, Kyoto, the region that has defined Japanese matcha for over eight centuries, this is our Pinnacle Grade release for the season. Each year we select the finest matcha of the season to be honoured as our Pinnacle Grade, chosen for its balance of colour, aroma, umami, and depth. This year's release is made from 100% first harvest Uji tencha, blended from Yabukita and Sayamakaori cultivars and ground on traditional stone mills. What sets it apart is that it excels everywhere. Most matcha is built for one purpose. This one holds its character as usucha, as koicha, or in a latte, without compromise in any of them. Perfect scores across colour, umami, sweetness, roasted aroma, water dispersion, depth, and particle fineness, with bitterness and astringency at the lowest end of the scale. The result is a matcha of remarkable richness and vibrancy that stays smooth from the first sip to the last.
