Our synthetic heliotropin is a high purity food grade quality, surpassing virtually all synthetic forms on the market right now. Heliotropin (piperonal) is the classic material used in perfume since the late 1800s to represent the odour of heliotrope flowers. It is also excellent when blended with coumarin and vanilla and adds a wonderfully different sweet nuance to fragrances. It has a quiet anisic quality to it and blends very well with anisic aldehyde as demonstrated by Jean Carles in his fragrance Canoe (1936) for Jean Patou. Because heliotropin (piperonal) is restricted by the DEA in the USA and in most countries at varying levels, we sell this product diluted. While it was previously sold at 50% we are now selling it at 20% to match the requirements of US customs. If you have a license to import this to your country we can sell it pure. If crystallisation occurs in colder climes, gentle heating may be required to bring this product back to solution. We also stock a 100% natural form of this product. Note: This product contains a diluted form of a regulated chemical and is sold in accordance with NZ regulations. Not for synthesis or diversion. Thai regulations: heliotropin is, according to notification B.E. 2568 (No 3) of the Thai Ministry of Health, officially exempt from restrictions in perfume use to a finished product level of 1%.
