Piston TR Total Release Insecticide Piston TR Total Release Insecticide is a professional greenhouse aerosol containing 4.5% chlorfenapyr for control of labeled mites and caterpillars and suppression of thrips on ornamental crops and fruiting vegetables grown in commercial greenhouses. Piston TR contains chlorfenapyr, the same active ingredient used in Pylon® TR, providing Group 13 chemistry in a convenient ready-to-use total release formulation. Piston TR works through contact and feeding activity and interferes with cellular energy production in susceptible pests. Its fine aerosol particles move throughout the greenhouse canopy with normal air circulation, helping distribute treatment across both upper and lower foliage without conventional spray mixing or application equipment. Features & Benefits ✓ Contains 4.5% chlorfenapyr, the active ingredient used in Pylon® TR ✓ Controls labeled mites and caterpillars while suppressing labeled thrips ✓ IRAC Group 13 chemistry provides a valuable rotational option for greenhouse resistance-management programs ✓ Ready-to-use total release aerosol requires no conventional spray mixing or application equipment ✓ One can treats up to 3,000 sq ft or approximately 50,000 cu ft at the labeled low rate ✓ Fine aerosol particles circulate throughout plant foliage for coverage of upper and lower leaf surfaces ✓ Labeled for ornamental crops and fruiting vegetables in commercial greenhouses Labeled Use Sites Piston TR is labeled for commercial greenhouse production of ornamental crops and fruiting vegetables, including bedding plants, containerized plants, cut flowers, evergreens, flowering plants, foliage plants, groundcovers, non-bearing fruit and nut trees and vines, ornamental trees and shrubs, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, tomatillo, groundcherry, pepinos, and other specifically labeled fruiting vegetables. Target Pests Piston TR controls labeled mites including two-spotted spider mites, broad mites, citrus budmites, and rust mites. The product does not control the mite egg stage. It also controls labeled caterpillars including beet armyworm, cabbage looper, and soybean looper. Thrips, including immature chili thrips and western flower thrips, are labeled for suppression rather than control. Application Notes Apply Piston TR in enclosed commercial greenhouse environments. Before application, shut off exhaust fans, close windows, doors, and ventilators, and turn off ignition sources. Place the can in a 3-foot plant-free area with the top of the container elevated above the plant canopy and the spray path unobstructed. Apply when foliage is dry and greenhouse temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F. At the labeled low rate, use 1 can per 3,000 sq ft; the high rate uses 2 cans per 3,000 sq ft depending on the target pest. Repeat applications may be made at 7-day intervals where specified. Do not apply more than three times during a crop-growing cycle or make more than two consecutive applications before rotating to chemistry with a different mode of action. Fruiting vegetables require at least 7 days between applications.
