Recognized as one of the greatest teams of their Negro Leagues era, the franchise was one of the few to own its own stadium, Greenlee Field in the Hill District.In 1937, following back-to-back championships, many of the team's stars — including three future Hall of Famers — left to play in the Dominican Republic. The team never recovered, moved twice, and folded in 1940.
