Designed by Danish cabinet maker Poul Kjaerholm in 1957, the PK80 Daybed was inspired by a modernist couch created by Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in 1930. Known for his thoughtful integration of steel, wood and natural materials, Kjaerholm saw steel not as a cold industrial element but as a material with its own character and warmth. The PK80 Daybed reflects this philosophy through its clean, minimal form. Its low, sculptural design establishes a tranquil ambiance, suitable for both domestic and public settings.Comprised of a satin brushed stainless steel base and an upholstered cushion, the daybed rests on a painted plywood bedplate. The sturdy steel base provides strength and stability, while the cushion core is made of granulated foam and Hairlok, a blend of natural fibres and latex, which ensures lasting comfort and durability. Featuring a distinctive grid of stitched panels, each gently padded to create a soft and structured surface, the carefully placed button details help maintain the cushion's shape over time. Available in selected Fritz Hansen canvas and leather options, the PK80 Daybed complements a wide range of interior styles. The PK80 Daybed serves as a sculptural resting place or an additional seat for any space. Covered by Fritz Hansen’s 20-year warranty as part of the Poul Kjærholm collection, it is designed to last and be appreciated across generations.
