Tillandsia xerographica, aka the 'Queen of Airplants', this plant is a great piece of living decor for the home. Tillandsia Xerographica is a beautiful statement piece. The magic of airplants is that you can typically place them anywhere in your home. It can grow as large as 36" wide and produces a multi branching red and yellow bloom with violet flowers. These plants are Xeric, aka they come from dry, hot environments. With this in mind, you can allow them to dry out a little bit in between waterings. A good visual cue that your tillandsia is thirsty is that its leaves will become more and more curled. A good rule of thumb is watering once a week during the growing season and every other week during the dormant season. For best care, place the plant in bright, indirect light. The best way to water tillandsia is to submerge them in a bowl of lukewarm water for 10 to 20 minutes. Then shake them vigorously and turn them upside down to dry in an area with good air flow. When they are completely dry, you can place them back in their spot. We also recommend adding air plant fertilizer to their baths in the growing season (April-October).
