Developed for rapid planting of cell or plug grown tree and hedge saplings. Unlike a tree planting spade, the PLANTEM® Dibber’s unique triangular cross-sectional shaped body is 30mm thick at its centre. Insert it once to create a triangular pocket for small cells or bare-root saplings. Remove, twist and insert a second time to make a rectangular hole for larger cells. If planting in loose soil the tree sapling can be firmed in after inserting; on sites with more compacted soils, the dibbers flat front face can be used to backslot (roughly 6” away) and lever the soil upwards to loosen before heeling in, reducing air pockets around the cell and promoting root spread beyond. As a general guide (each species and site varies) Conifer saplings : up to 60cm Broadleaf saplings: up to 60cm For ‘commercial’ forestry planting or speed planting professionals who plant upwards of 500 per day (usually without guarding) PLANTEM® Short Dibber may be better suited – lightweight and short/adjustable height for working close to the ground, simultaneously dibbing holes and planting cells. PLANTEM® Dibber Features: Unique cross-sectional triangular shape to dibbers body, creates a planting pocket in one hit, promotes roots embedding and spreading rather than hole-bound spiralling in clean circular cuts.
