CALLING ALL PLANNERS AND ECOLOGISTS! Plants can often constitute valuable biodiversity assets of local to international conservation importance across many sites. Despite the overa rching value and importance of many species however, they are often overlooked. This course will be going through relevant policy, literature and best-practice guidance on what should be contained within PEA/EcIA ecology reports when it comes to important floristic features, and how this relates to planning applications. The key principles that underpin EcIA, including avoidance, mitigation and compensation will be discussed, and participants are expected to have a basic understanding of appropriate strategies when it comes to these key principles by the end of the course.
