A French faïence plate decorated in the "chinois" pattern —a phoenix among scrolling waves and lotus at the centre, framed by a border of stylised flowers, foliate scrolls, and a g ilded scale ground. The transfer outline is filled in polychrome enamel in greens, corals, and yellow against white. Marked Longwy on the reverse. A decorative plate that hangs as well as it sits.
