If’ns you want to bike pack with a bunch of water, but don’t want to carry a Camelbak, you want a Platypus hydration bladder. Get the biggest one you can fit in your top tube or frame bag. The hose is long enough to clip to your handlebars, so you just have to bend over a bit and sip. Light and durable. No weird zipper to fail over time. Hose is readily replaceable. Bite valve works, no weird valves, no fuss. This is about as basic but good as a bladder can get. Works fine as a camelbak bladder replacement, but you are not gonna stick beers and ice in it, just water and maybe a chlorine drop or two. Wash with 1 drop of Dr. Bronners soap and some warm but not super hot water. Cycle said water down through the hose. Done. 1 liter, 2 liter or 3 liter depending on how much room you got. Big bikes get the 3, 55cm / medium get the 2, smaller than that get the 1.
