EN | BRETT, Mary (Molly). Molly Brett grew up in a country district of Surrey, the daughter of Mary Gould Brett, a gifted animal painter. She had little formal training but, after a correspondence course, started illustrating and writing children's books. She worked in watercolour and pen and pencil and was a member of the Society of Authors, the Women's Institute, and the local Lunch Club and Art Society.
